Several titanium material standards systems define global titanium alloy grades and their chemical composition, chemical composition and mechanical property data.
As with other metals, the important standards for titanium are the American ASTM standards, the aerospace materials section of the SAE standards, AMS, and the international ISO standards.
ASTM International Standards: These standards are developed by ASTM International, a global organization that develops and publishes technical standards for various materials, including titanium. ASTM standards cover all aspects of titanium production, including chemical composition, mechanical properties and test methods.
AMS Standards: Aerospace Material Specification (AMS) standards are developed by the aerospace industry and cover all aspects of titanium production, including chemical composition, mechanical properties and test methods.
ISO Standards: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops and publishes international standards for various industries, including aerospace, medical and construction, where titanium is used. ISO standards for titanium cover chemical composition, mechanical properties and test methods.
MIL-STD Standards: Military Standard (MIL-STD) standards are developed by the U.S. Department of Defense and cover all aspects of titanium production, including chemical composition, mechanical properties and test methods.
Titanium Grade Standards: Titanium alloys are designated by their unique titanium grade number and defined by their chemical composition and mechanical properties according to ASTM International and AMS standards.
