Titanium Grade 1 CP 4 | UNS# R50250 is the primary of a total of four commercially pure Titanium grades. Grade 1 is the more ductile and softest of these grades and also boasts better formability, high-impact toughness, and superb corrosion resistance.

Titanium CP3 – Grade 2
Titanium Grade 2 CP 3 | UNS #R50400 is generally known as the workhorse of the Commercially Pure Titanium grades. Titanium Grade 2 has higher tolerable levels of iron and oxygen and is widely used because it combines good formability and moderate strength with better corrosion resistance. It has relatively low levels of impurity elements, which places it between Grades 1 and 3 in terms of strength.
Titanium Grade 2 CP 3 Applications:
Medical: Staples for anastomoses, Springs for ultrasonic scalpels, Springs for Cardiac Pacemakers, Springs for Brain Pacemakers

Titanium CP2 – Grade 3
Titanium Grade 3 CP 2 | UNS #R50550 has a higher tolerable oxygen level than Grade 2 and higher min. strength requirements. Commercially pure titanium grades have high corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility and good formability. They are classified based on their yield strength and allowable levels of the elements iron, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen level.
Titanium Grade 3 CP 2 Applications:
Medical: Staples for anastomoses, Springs for ultrasonic scalpels, Springs for Cardiac Pacemakers, Springs for Brain Pacemakers

Titanium CP1 – Grade 4
Titanium Grade 4 CP 1 | UNS #R50700 is the strongest grade of commercially pure titanium with good ductility, moderate formability, and great corrosion fatigue resistance in seawater. With more higher allowable oxygen and iron contents it combines the good resistance to corrosion and corrosion fatigue of titanium with high strength that makes it a candidate to compete with steels and nickel alloys for many applications. It has more higher allowable oxygen and iron content of the grades and can be considered in any application where strength and corrosion resistance are important.

Titanium Alloys
Grade 5(Ti-6Al-4V)
Titanium Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V|UNS #R56400 is a commonly used titanium alloy. Ti-6Al-4V offers a combination of high strength, light weight, formability and corrosion resistance which have made it a commonly used titanium alloy. It is an alpha+beta alloy that is heat-treatable to achieve moderate increases in strength and is recommended for use at service temperatures up to approximately 660°F (350°C). Ti 6Al-4V may be considered in any application where a combination of high strength at low to moderate temperatures, lightweight, and great corrosion resistance is required.
It is commonly used in medical, aerospace and industrial applications.
Medical: Dental implants, abutments, central screws; Orthopedic implants, self-breaking plugs, spinal long (short) tail U-nails, percutaneous nails, spinal connecting rods, spinal transverse connecting rods;

Grade 9 Ti 3Al-2.5V
Grade 9 Ti 3Al-2.5V UNS #R56320 is a titanium near-alpha alloy that represents a good compromise between formability and strength. It is stronger than commercially pure titanium (at both room and elevated temperatures). Unlike Ti 6Al-4V, it has the ability to be cold-rolled. Also known as ASTM B348 Grade 9.
Grade 9 Applications:
Grade 9 Ti-3Al-2.5V alloy is used in the following application areas:

Grade 23 (Ti-6AL-4V ELI )
Titanium Grade 23 (Ti-6AL-4V ELI ) |UNS #R56320 is the extra-low interstitial version of Ti-6Al-4V and its content is arrived at by the careful selection of ingot raw materials with lower specified limits on iron and the interstitial elements C and O. Ti-6AL-4V ELI is commonly referred to surgical titanium because of its use in surgery. It is a more pure version of Grade 5 (Ti-6AL-4V) titanium alloy. It can be easily molded, and cut into small strands, coils, and wires.
It has been the material of choice for many medical and dental applications due to its good biocompatibility, good fatigue strength, and low modulus. The ELI grade has good damage tolerance (fracture toughness, fatigue crack growth rate) and better mechanical properties at cryogenic temperatures compared to standard grade Ti-6Al-4V.
Some of the more common surgical procedures Ti-6AL-4V ELI is used in include:
